There are many uses for granite tiles devised nowadays. Among them are vanity tops, jacuzzi surrounds and even fireplaces. It has been extensively used as flooring tiles in steps of commercial buildings and monuments. They are also emerging as a popular medium for pillars in some countries. Since using the tile in different combinations and patterns imparts a classy look and at the same time very pleasing to the eye. But unless you are prepared to keep it clean then just forget about it. Granite is notoriously difficult to keep shiny, simple as that. You have to be prepared to continually clean it on a daily basis. If you aren't on for that amount of cleaning, then try a wooden or laminate counter.
