Granite tile benefits & drawbacks

There are many uses for granite tiles devised nowadays. Among them are vanity tops, jacuzzi surrounds and even fireplaces. It has been extensively used as flooring tiles in steps of commercial buildings and monuments. They are also emerging as a popular medium for pillars in some countries. Since using the tile in different combinations and patterns imparts a classy look and at the same time very pleasing to the eye. They are used mainly for interior designing and pleasing eye candy at times.

Granite tiles are most commonly chosen due not only to their aesthetic qualities but because it is the hardest and densest commercially available stone in the market. Granite has high durability and also is good for easy maintenance plus with its good looks it has slowly earned it way up the popularity chart in both indoor and outdoor uses.

Kitchen counters

I've seen so many new-build houses (and older houses) adopt granite counters in their kitchens. And when you see them installed you can see why people are so keen to have a granite counter, they are simply the most stunning counter you can get. Granite is hard, shiny and really makes a kitchen look impressive. Just beware that dropping your plates or mugs onto a granite top usually means only one thing, having to buy a replacement. Granite isn't very forgiving!

Drawbacks

I can understand why people want to use granite in their homes, it is a prestige stone afterall. But unless you are prepared to keep it clean then just forget about it. Granite is notoriously difficult to keep shiny, simple as that. You have to be prepared to continually clean it on a daily basis. If you aren't on for that amount of cleaning, then try a wooden or laminate counter.
