Granite tiles are available in many rich colors, forms and textures to choose from. Deep reds, blues and blacks each with their own unique texture and combinations could be found. Not only does granite hold the title for the hardest stone tile, it is also the highly polished stone. Though it is easy for it to be cleaned and maintained it becomes too slippery and smooth which not only demands extra care but also the reason why they are used more on countertops around the home. Besides being polished, they can be given a honed or flamed surface, which gives extra texture and provides a distinct look.

Kitchens

Because granite is so shiny (when in honed and polished form) it is ideal for use in the kitchen, specifically as a kitchen countertop. The fantastic thing about choosing granite as your countertop is that it can be custom cut for your kitchen, which means that there will be no ugly looking cuts and joints like you get with laminate countertops. As well as this, a granite countertop just looks great. It last forever and aside from the daily cleaning it requires you won't have very many problems.

If you want to create a stunning entrance to a building then choose granite, but make sure it is not polished. In it's unpolished form granite is very natural in appearance but it also maintains it's elegance. It is used worldwide in steps and cladding, and because it is so resilient to the elements there is very little in terms of maintenance.
